Alan Jackson Honors West Virginia Miners and Rescue Workers In Recent WV Concert

Alan Jackson is one class act. According to this article on CMT.com:

Alan Jackson played a tribute concert in Charleston, W.Va., on Saturday (May 22) to honor the miners who were killed in a nearby mining disaster last month, as well as their rescue workers. Prior to his concert at the Charleston Civic Center, Jackson met with 27 families affected by the Upper Big Branch incident.

He also wore a bracelet during the concert to commemorate what would have been the 21st birthday of Cory Davis, one of the miners who died in the disaster. Photos of the miners were shown on two screens during a performance of "Coalwood" by Jackson's longtime pedal steel player, Robbie Flint, a native of Sylvester, W.Va.

The concert will benefit the Montcoal Mining Disaster Fund, administrated by the West Virginia Council of Churches. In addition, Jackson was named an honorary West Virginian by Gov. Joe Manchin.

Chely Wright Welcomes Any Chance To Apologize To Brad Paisley

During Chely Wright's recent interview on Oprah, she told Oprah:

"Doing anything with someone you shouldn't be doing something with -- having sex with him, kissing on him, going into a movie and holding hands with a man when you're a lesbian feels wrong," she says. "When you want to be with someone else, it's wrong. I wronged him ... I damaged [Brad], and I hope he forgives me.

I hope this fills in some emotional gaps for him. I don't assume he's pining over how Chely Wright hurt his feelings a few years ago. I'm assuming he's happy and moved on, but I would welcome any chance [to talk to him]."

Country Music's Finest Lend A Helping Hand And Ear At Last Night's Music City Keep On Playin' Benefit Concert

Some of country music's best were present last night at the Music City Keep On Playin' Benefit Concert. Proceeds from the concert and telethon were going to help rebuild the city of Nashville after the devastating floods from a few weeks ago. Some of the entertainers present were Brad Paisley, Lady Antebellum, Rodney Atkins, Kellie Pickler, Martina McBride, Keith Urban, Whitney Duncan and many more.

Behind the scenes, many of country music's finest manned the phones during the live telethon. As of midnight last night, according to GACTV.com, the event raised over 1.7 million dollars already. That's awesome! A BIG thanks to everyone who participated last night and who donated their hard-earned money and time. Here are some photos from the event:

Being from Atlanta, I've followed Jennifer Nettles for years, so her marriage and subsequent divorce to the owner of Eddie's Attic in Decatur, GA isn't much of a story to me, but because Jennifer keeps her personal life very private, her love life is somewhat of a mystery to most.

Blake Shelton And Miranda Lambert Are Finally Engaged!

Well, it looks like Blake finally popped the big question to Miranda. In true hillbilly style, Blake popped the question over a couple of Bacardi and Diet Sprites in Solo cups! According to People.com, Miranda said,

"He called my dad and got his blessing first, that was so Southern and old-school and perfect."

Equally perfect: The diamond-and-platinum ring "Hillbilly Bone" singer Shelton, 33, chose on his own.

"I was so proud of him," says Lambert, 26. "We’ve been together five years, so he knew exactly what I wanted but it’s so much more perfect than I could have picked out myself."

The setting for the proposal was distinctly down-home – in the woods near Lambert’s Tishomingo, Okla., home. And the celebration was similarly informal: "We had a couple of Bacardi and Diet Sprites – in a Solo cup!"

The engagement is yet another high point in a stellar year for Lambert, who in January scored her first No. 1 single with "White Liar" and in April won Album of the Year and Top Female Vocalist at the ACM Awards. Tuesday morning, Lambert was nominated for two CMT Awards, while her groom-to-be also received a nod.

"2010 will not be forgotten in my world," she says.

And the best may be yet to come. "Weddings are great and engagements are great and diamonds are especially great," Lambert says. "But I’m just excited to be married because I want to tell Blake I really can love him the rest of my life and be happy and make him happy."

Today Was A Bad Day For Gary Allan One Year Ago - Why?

Gary Allan may 'Get Off On The Pain' of life on the road, but I don't think he was getting off on the pain that happened to him one year ago today. On this day last year, a jealous woman vandalized Gary's home. It seems that Katherine Walker was a little bit mad that another woman was visiting Gary, so she decided to throw his patio furniture into his pool, smash some potted plants and steal some clothes out of the car of the woman who was visiting Gary. Not exactly a happy memory for Mr. Allan I'm sure. Here's a look at Gary during happier times at last year's BamaJam in Enterprise, AL.
